But there's also a lot to enjoy for 'mature' Mahler fans, especially the much hailed Tennstedt live recordings of symphonies 5 & 8 and Rattle's excellent interpretations of symphonies 4 & 10 (Cooke version). Very good are Giulini's 1st, Rattle's 'Klagendes Lied' and Klemperer's 'Lied von der Erde' (with Christa Ludwig and Fritz Wunderlich). Other recordings are well worth having, the only one I dislike is Szell's 'Des Knaben Wunderhorn', mostly because of Elisabeth Schwarzkopf's rendering; I gues she just ain't my cup of tea. The bonus CD of course is a wonderful addition and makes the set worth every penny.
