What is Rance? Rance is an adult fantasy RPG series started by Alicesoft in 1988.

The series focuses on a character named Rance who was designed to be the opposite of the hero characters in traditional Japanese RPGs of the time. Consequently Rance is an extremely selfish, violent, horny asshole, and if he does anything good, it's usually by accident. The games in the series make up a continuous story, but each is mostly enjoyable on its own as well. Most of the games are some sort of RPG, but the gameplay in each varies wildly, to the point where most of them are completely different from a gameplay perspective.

The Story So Far. Rance - The Search for Hikari. Originally released: August 15th, 1989 In the Kingdom of Leazas, an aristocrat's daughter is kidnapped! Taking on the job of rescuing her, an adventurer named Rance searches the castle town, while his recently purchased slave, Sill, infiltrates the kidnapped girl's school. FUN FACTS -For some reason, having sex with Sill in this game gives Rance the ability to use magic -The girl on the cover appears nowhere in the game itself Rance II - The Rebellious Girl.

Originally released: May 15th, 1990 Four girls training in magic in the town of Custom suddenly began a rebellion and sealed the whole city underground. Rance accepts a request to defeat them and goes with Sill to the underground dungeon.

Originally released: November 15th, 1991 The militant nation of Helman's Prince Patton joins hands with the powerful beings known as fiends and invades Leazas, quickly taking over the country. Seeking help to save the imprisoned Princess Lia, Kanami the ninja pays a visit to Rance's house. Rance takes her virginity in exchange for driving Helman out of Leazas! Originally released: December 11th, 1993 Rance and Sill are teleported to the mysterious, floating city of Ylapu. While they search everywhere for a way back to the surface, Leazas and Custom put together a team to bring them back. At the same time, a group of Helmanian soldiers is snooping around Ylapu. FUN FACTS -The game was initially developed with scrolling maps in mind, but it couldn't be done due to technical limitations, so the maps had to be significantly shrunk down for the released version.Much of this game was created from ideas for a scrapped game called Toushin Toshi Upsilon that was intended to be released for the Sega CD.

Please Log in / Register to view this link Rance 1 - Quest for Hikari: Keith, owner of Keith's Guild, offers Rance a job worth 20,000 gold in reward from the Bran family to find and protect their daughter, Hikari Mi Bran, who was kidnapped with no subsequent demands made. Assisting him in his search is Zeth-born caster slave, Sill Plain, who was also kidnapped from her rich family and sold to Rance in exchange for his life savings. Through separate means, they both work together to solve the mystery behind the kidnapping, and eventually discover that the case is much larger than it seemed to be.

They were to be raised as mages and work as the town's guardians after their training completed. However, after the ten years, the girls suddenly rebelled against Ragishss and killed him. During the harsh magic battle, the entire town was entombed underground and a barrier spell was placed on it, preventing anyone from leaving, including the maidens who terrorized the town. Rance being literally naked, and with his level mischievously dropped to 1 by the God of Light, they find themselves in an unknown land that isn't in The Continent they've always lived. They come across a small town nearby and it doesn't take them too long to find out that they are actually in the floating island above Leazas, Ylapu. Stuck in the floating landmass with no means to get out, they are forced to investigate in order to find a way to return to the main continent. The Imperial Patrol crushed his band with overwhelming force, and captured his slave, Sill. Rance fled to the borders of Leazas where he was rescued by Kanami, personal ninja of Lia, queen of Leazas. Eager to take revenge upon Helman and rescue his slave Sill, Rance agreed to marry Lia. However, after offending a high-ranked magic user, Rance is ironically thrown into the slave camp while his magic-using slave Sill is treated as a VIP. Vowing vengeance, he joins up with an underground resistance group called Ice Flame. Zeth being a nation of Magic, has a strong prejudice against those who cannot use magic. Ice Flame is a now small organization with the mission of bringing equality between mages and non-mages, whose rights are pretty much non-existant. Rance joins the group in order to get his revenge against the mages of the government of Zeth, and be reunited with Sill 'while he's at it'. Overwrites save in last slot. Notes - This save is useless as there is no memory or CG viewer in Rance 1. All you can do is leave the Camp menu then 'Go somewhere Else' to finish the game. I included it here for the sake of completeness. Rance 2 - The Rebellious Maidens (Remake) - Placement - Put ＣＧモード.asd and 回想モード.asd in the SaveData folder.

Unlocks all CG and Music in the main menu. Rance 3 - The Fall of Leazas - Placement - Put RANCE3SH.ASD in the same folder as the game executable. Overwrites save in last slot. Notes - Go to the H viewer in the camp menu to see the CG. Rance 4 - Quest for Hikari - Placement - Put RANCE4SJ.ASD in the same folder as the game executable. Overwrites save in last slot.

Notes - In the Camp menu, call the System God to get to the CG viewer. There are some problems with this save.

For one, you cannot get both version's of Merim's H-scene in one playthrough. I went the version I felt was kinder to her (waiting to have sex until Bicci is dead). Second, there seem to be numerous bugs that kept some CG from unlocking. For example, Leila's mirror CG is missing from her section even though it's impossible to miss. You may be better served by looking up the CG collection online. Rance 4.1 - Save the Medicine Factory!

- Placement - Put ASLEEPJ.DAT in the same folder as the game executable. Notes - Go to Alice's Mansion in the title menu to see the scenes.

Rance 4.2 - Angel Army - Placement - Put ASLEEPJ.DAT in the same folder as the game executable. Notes - Go to Alice's Mansion in the title menu to see the scenes.

Kichikuou Rance - Placement - Put KICHIKUSJ.ASD in the same folder as the game executable. Overwrites save in last slot. Notes - Most important, if you want to get the secret spy character, reload the title menu until you see 'Spy' in the lower-left corner. Click it at least once before starting a new game.

She will join you after conquering one of the cities in Leazas during the rebellion. Once you have started a new game and saved at least once, you can freely delete this file as the new saves will have the requisite flags for unlocking all the CG and Destinies copied over. This game has an odd saving system where it continually copies all system data to all current save files.

Rance 5D - The Lonely Girl - Placement - Put Rance5dSystem.asd in the save folder. Overwrites high scores for each mode (Normal, Hard A and Hard B) Notes - Included are 25 save files which will allow you to use the Chapter Select function to jump to any chapter from the title menu. These go in the same folder as the game executable, but are not necessary for unlocking the CG.

Rance 6 - The Collapse of Zeth - Placement - Put Config.asd in the SaveData folder. Rance 7 - Sengoku Rance - Placement - Put Rance7Sys.ASD in the SaveData folder. Overwrites high score for new game points.

Fun English Games

Notes - Start a new game then look at CG from the System menu. This is a hacked file because I got sick of trying to finish every path in the game. It has enough points to unlock every bonus at the same time.
